[[An experience in Mediacorp Variey Show]]

Darling went back to work yesterday after 2 days of MC. He had cough & sore throat! Now itz my turn having sore throat. The feeling's like something struck in my throat, hate tat uncomfortable feeling! After drinking plenty of plain water, I m feeling better.

Baby Zenden once in a while had mucus running down from his nose. Oh my! Could b due to the flu bug tat's in the air recently. He seems better 2day, if not we have to bring him to c his doc.

Wkend was great! Had a memorable Sat.

Wanna know how my Sat was spent? Well... Darling & I brought little Zenden to Jurong Pt for a baby contest held by Mediacorp - "我是俏宝宝". Saw their advertisement on tv so decided to bring Zenden for a try. It stated tat only the first 50 babies will b enrolled into the contest & registration will start at 10am.

I woke up at 5:45am to shower & get ready while darling woke up at 6am. We woke the still-sleepy Zenden up at 6 plus to get ready as well as drink milk. Poor baby... Normally he is still in his dreamland at 6 plus. We set off at 7:15am. Hehe... kiasu rite? But no choice... afraid tat if we reach there too late, we will miz being the 1st 50.

Halfway in the car, it began to rain super heavily. Reached Jurong Pt at 8am. Saw the Mediacorp Crew in the midst of setting up the area. No pple queuing up yet. Thus we went to Mac for our breakfast. I didn't have much appetite, guess I was even more nervous than Zenden over the contest. Darling had sausage Mcmuffin wif egg meal while I only ate a hashbrown wif iced milo.

There was a couple wif their nicely dressed up baby there too. We guessed tat they r oso joining the contest. They came even earlier than us coz they had already finished eating when we reached Mac.

I went to order food while darling looked after Zenden. Darling said Zenden called out "mama" when he took this pic, tat explained y his mouth was open. Previously, he kept calling "papa" but recently he's always calling "mama" haha...

"Where's my food?"

After I finished eating, I went to check. A few pple were in queue. As darling was still drinking his coffee, I went wif Zenden to queue up 1st. More & more couples came wif their babies & soon the queue was super long though itz not 10am yet.

While in the queue, Zenden fell asleep in his stroller.

The cameraman of Mediacorp was filming the crowd & I saw him focus his camera on Zenden who was sound asleep.

I was no.18 in queue. After filling up the registration form, all mummies would bring their babies to the allocated area. To avoid overcrowding, they said tat only 1 parent was allowed to stay wif their baby. Thus darling waited at the side. The 1st to the 3rd floor were filled wif onlookers.

One by one, we were called by our queue number to bring our baby for an individual photo-taking. Zenden was under Kym Ng's group.

Zenden looked so stunned wif the unfamiliar surrounding. Luckily he did not cry.

... but he managed to maintain his cool cool look. Haha...

Kym Ng & Chen Wencong (陈文聪) commented tat Zenden was good-looking & they said he looked like daddy. =)

After the photo-taking, we were asked to go eat, feed baby or change baby's diaper etc & then go back there again at 12:30pm for the results.

Busy busy...

They would instantly print the babies' photos & then put them up for the judges to choose later on.

We ate a light snack at KFC. Oso fed Zenden his cereal. After tat, we headed back to hear the results.

All 50 baby photos were finally put up.

The announcement of results were delayed. The Crew were busy settling some stuffs. We waited from 12:30pm to 2pm. Due to the overwhelming response, they allowed parents wif queue numbers 51 to 100 to take part too. They were given a few secs each to show their babies to the judges. In the end, they decided to choose 12 finalists out of 100.

The 3 judges seated comfortably. Didn't expect my fav actor Zheng Geping is 1 of the judges. (:

Darling & I were telling each other tat the chance is super slim coz they will only choose 12 out of 100. 12 out of 50 is already so difficult! One by one, Mark Lee announced the names of the finalists. Suddenly he announced "苏乐语"! OMG is Zenden! We were both stunned as well as happy & surprised tat he managed to make it to the top 12 finalists. (:

All 12 mummies carried their babies to the allocated playmat. After tat Zheng Geping, Vivian Lai & the principal came over to mingle wif the babies.

Each mummy was then given a chance to pick a number from an envelope, to decide whose baby is the 1st to b "interviewed" in the 2nd round. My number was 12, the last to b interviewed. Thus I had time to change his diaper & Zenden took a nap. Poor baby... he's very tired.

I looked tired after waking up so early in the morning.

Darling had to stand throughout at the side. Poor him! His legs & back muz b aching!

When itz Zenden's turn, he was still in dreamland.

The 2 hosts & 3 judges took turns to ask me questions abt Zenden. Finally he woke up & they were so excited to c him awake haha..

During the interview, Mark Lee & Kym Ng said tat Zenden is cute & he looked like "蜡笔小新" haha... B4 tat we already noticed he looked like him & sometimes we will call him "小蜡笔" lol...

They both have the same chubby cheeks.

After all interviews were done, we had to wait again for the results. Out of the 12 finalists, only 8 babies would b chosen for the 3rd round.

Zenden got into the top 8 again! =)

During the 3rd round, the babies were split into 2 groups. 4 babies in each group. They have to compete in crawling. Only the 4 fastest babies will take part in the finals which will b held at a later date. They would oso choose 1 baby from the losers based on the 3rd round performance to b in the finals.

Zenden lost in this round coz he did not know how to crawl yet. He could crawl a little backwards but still trying to crawl forward. He kept going backwards to c the toy behind him haha...

Managed to take a shot wif Vivian Lai. A pity didn't get the chance to take pic wif the other 3 celebrities as they were busy wif their stuffs.

Though Zenden didn't make it to the finals, we r already very proud of him! Being selected out of 100 babies is not easy. He still could get into top 12 & after tat top 8. Tat's his greatest achievement! Luckily he could still endure almost the whole day of filming.

Watch out for the show as I believe it will b aired. U can catch us on TV hehe...

Darling, Zenden & I were all exhausted at the end of the day. We went out at 7 plus in the morning & only reached home at 6 plus. The contest took many hrs to film, a long tiring day! However, itz a worthwhile experience for all of us.

We were supposed to go have dinner wif darling's frens but since we r shag out, he decided to give it a miss.

Zenden fell asleep when we got home.

The next day Sun, we laze ard at home till 5 plus then we went out. Went to Causeway Pt to buy some groceries & had dinner at my mother-in-law's place.

[[My blog's new look =)]]

I revamped my blog yesterday! Spent half a day doing it. Inserted a photo banner & did a little touch up to my sidebar. I m so satisfied wif the new look. Darling saw it & commented tat it was nice hehe...

2day's entry comes wif plenty of visuals.

On Sat, brought baby Zenden to the library in Civic Centre. Itz his 1st time going to the library!

I had belacan fried rice & watermelon juice while darling had crabmeat fried rice & soupsop juice.

After lunch, went to NTUC to replenish Zenden's cereal & veg. Off we went to my mother-in-law's place after the shopping.

The next day Sun, we went to Orchard as we wanna go to the Taka baby fair. We will go there without fail everytime they have it.

Though itz a rainy day, Taka baby fair was filled wif shoppers.

After our much rewarded shopping, we had our lunch cum dinner at Central - "中环茶餐厅", a Hong Kong theme restaurant.

The food was delicious! I tried the pork chop baked rice & iced yuan yang (coffee mixed wif tea) while darling tried the chicken chop baked rice & iced coffee wif grass jelly (something special!). We saw from the menu tat they oso had instant noodles wif various ingredients of ur choice. Darling actually wanna try tat but I told him "I can cook tat for u rite?" Haha... So he ate baked rice.

The baked rice were served in those wooden steamers meant for dim sum. Unique rite?

Baby Zenden had the most rewards from the Taka baby fair. All the things we bought tat day were his.

A few sets of bigger size pyjamas as he will outgrown his very soon.

The white long pants is cute wif attached knee pads for crawling babies.

A Pooh polo tee & a jumper, all in big sizes. We hope to keep them for the coming CNY.

~End of my wkend updates ~

I love wkends as they provide me wif lots of quality time wif hubby & baby... & I oso love the shopping trips we have. =>

Now the everyday news is all abt the govt encouraging singles to find a partner, get married & have kids. Govt is starting to give more incentives so as to boost birth rates like bigger baby bonus, more maternity leave, more childcare leave, more tax rebates, more subsidies for infant & childcare etc.

But 1 thing is... the govt seem to have neglected daddies & stay-at-home mummies. Working mummies will b given 4 mths of maternity leave but the paternity leave tat daddies have r not tat much. Daddies do play an impt role too.

Stay-at-home mummies sacrifice their income so as to have tat precious time wif their babies, watching them grow & guiding them to learn. Well... it will b best if the system can b improvised on a wider aspect of the society.

Whether there is bigger incentives or not, I believe I will still wan a no.2 baby if possible hehe... I m glad to have Zenden. The joy tat a baby brings is beyond words. =)

Okie... Going to shower & eat dinner. Will b back soon. (:
